Walk and Talk Therapy
Counselling in nature, at your pace
Sometimes it's easier to talk when you're not sitting across from someone. Walk and Talk therapy takes your counselling session outdoors, on gentle paved walking trails in Melbourne's north east, surrounded by trees, birdsong and fresh air.
What to expect
We'll meet at a local walking trails in either Eltham, Templestowe, Heidelberg or Wattle Glen and talk as we stroll. The paths are paved and relatively flat, and wherever we walk there is seating along the way, so we can stop and rest for a moment whenever you need to. Sit, take a breath, or simply enjoy the surroundings before we continue.
You always set the pace. Walk slowly, stop often, or sit for most of the session if that's what feels right. There's no expectation to go any particular distance or speed. The walk is there to support the conversation, not to be a workout.
The benefits
Many women find that walking therapy offers something a traditional session can't:
Feeling more at ease. Moving side by side, rather than face to face, can make it easier to open up and speak about difficult things.
Time in nature. Time outdoors is associated with lower stress, improved mood and a greater sense of calm.
Gentle movement. Light physical activity can help release tension, clear the mind and shift stuck thoughts.
Space to think. The rhythm of walking and the sounds of nature can make reflection feel more natural and less pressured.
A fresh perspective. A change of scenery can bring a change in thinking.
Is Walk and Talk right for me?
It's a lovely option for many women, but it isn't the right fit for everyone. Walk and Talk sessions are suited to women with low support needs, in line with the scope of my practice. I don't provide support for high-risk or crisis situations, alcohol and other drug concerns, or psychological assessments.
That's why every client begins with a Walk and Talk Suitability Session: a 30-minute Zoom session where we'll talk about your goals, your comfort with walking outdoors, safety, confidentiality in public spaces and how the sessions work. It's also a chance to ask any questions. If walking therapy isn't the best fit, we'll talk through other options, such as continuing with online sessions.
If you go ahead with walking sessions, $20 of your suitability session fee is credited toward your first walk (when booked within 60 days).
Good to know
Weather dependent. Sessions take place outdoors, so we may need to reschedule or move online in very hot, wet or unsafe conditions. We'll go through the details in your suitability session.

About your counsellor
I'm Kylie, your counsellor at The Haven Women’s Counselling and Wellbeing, and an Accredited Counsellor with the Australian Counselling Association. I started offering Walk and Talk therapy because I believe there's something healing about stepping outside, slowing down and letting nature hold some of the weight. It's a gentle, unhurried way to reflect, and a lovely alternative if sitting in front of a screen doesn't feel like the right fit.

About Kylie
Your counsellor at The Haven.
There are seasons in life where everything feels uncertain, where relationships shift, identity evolves, and the weight of it all becomes quietly overwhelming. In those moments, you deserve a space to soften.
I work with women navigating the complexities of life transitions, relationships, motherhood, separation, divorce, and dating, while also supporting the deeper layers that often sit beneath these experiences. Together, we gently explore life transitions, parenting, step parenting and blended family dynamics, career challenges, grief and loss, and the internal pressures of overthinking, perfectionism, and self-doubt.
My work is grounded not only in professional training, but in lived experience. I am an Accredited Counsellor (Level 1) with the Australian Counselling Association, holding an AQF Level 5 qualification. I also understand the tenderness and intensity of motherhood, the challenge of redefining yourself through career shifts, and the courage it takes to move through separation and step into new stages in life. These experiences allow me to meet you with a depth of empathy that is both felt and understood.
I create a space for you that feels calm, private, and restorative, whether that's from the comfort of your own home or out on a quiet walking trail. A place where you can lay everything down.
A place to breathe. To be held in understanding. To return to yourself.
I have always found a sense of calm and clarity when walking in nature, and I love sharing that with the women I work with. Through Walk and Talk therapy, we can step outside together, onto gentle paved trails with birdsong, fresh air and seating along the way, and let the conversation unfold at your pace.
My approach is person-centred and intuitive, allowing each session to unfold at your pace, guided by what feels most important to you. I hold space with care and intention, supporting you to explore your inner world, make sense of your experiences, and reconnect with a sense of clarity, strength, and emotional balance.
Based in North East Melbourne, I offer online counselling for women across Australia, and Walk and Talk sessions in person for women across the Nillumbik, Banyule and Manningham areas and nearby communities. Online sessions allow you to access support from the comfort and privacy of your own space, while Walk and Talk offers a gentle, nature-based alternative. All Walk and Talk clients begin with a short suitability session via Zoom. Learn more about Walk and Talk Therapy.
To ensure I can offer the most supportive and appropriate care, my practice focuses on low to moderate support needs. I do not provide services related to alcohol and other drug (AOD) concerns, psychological assessments, or work with clients experiencing high-risk or crisis situations. Where needed, I am always happy to support you in finding the right referrals.
This work is not about fixing you. It is about supporting you as you come home to yourself.
I bring a warm, grounded, and non-judgmental presence to every session, creating an environment where you feel safe to be seen, heard, and supported in all that you carry.
You don't have to navigate this alone.
